Transmigrating to Modern Earth from the Future

Chapter 20: Attack at night (2)

Chapter 20: Attack at night (2)

The fight in the camp came to a standstill at the sight that Lumen had just provided them all with. Lumen\'s group looked a little sad and some even looked nauseous as this would be the first time they had seen another human die in such a gruesome way right in front of their eyes.

The attacking group were also stupefied, but for different reasons. Their leader, the strongest of the lot of them had just been slain without the ability to even damage the other party. This came as a big shock to them as they had even ploughed through other groups of people before arriving at theirs and they hadn\'t met much resistance yet.

They were already a little riled up from the fact that one of them was killed before they could even leave their positions, and now their leader had been slain in direct one on one combat.

Some regained their spirit quicker than others though as one man wearing light warrior armour and wielding an axe, appearing to be a variant class, started sprinting at Lumen from his flank.

It turned out they still had one enemy hidden in the bushes!

The addition of the new enemy seemed to have enabled the attackers to regain some of their spirit as they made some incoherent roars and shouts before they continued their onslaught on this group of five.

Lumen was unprepared to receive an attack from a new unknown enemy and was unable to block or dodge by the time he noticed the man. He was at a loss what to do with this new axe wielding warrior from nowhere approaching at a fast speed. He had little time to think as he only managed to do what came to his mind first. Before the axe managed to split his head in two, he managed to force his spear in front of the incoming axe.

He managed to block it but was now thrown backwards onto the ground with the warrior now on top of him, the axe wedged in the spear handle as neither were able to retrieve their weapons even using their full strength.

The warrior tried to pull his axe back to perform another head splitting move, but he couldn\'t pull it out of the spear handle and neither could Lumen pull his spear away from the man\'s grip on the axe. The fight had turned into a stalemate. Lumen tried to get his spear back to retreat a distance away but it acted against his wishes and even aided the warrior in pinning him to the ground.

All it took was a perfectly timed arrow from one of the archers to deal some significant damage to him and so he did his best to struggle out of this tricky situation.

It didn\'t take a genius to know that his situation right now looked completely in the axe warrior\'s favour. The man seemed to be just like the leader he had just killed and had a strength on par with him and maybe even a little bit stronger than him as clearly he also had a strength related talent.

He looked to his team mates but they were all preoccupied with their own fights and wouldn\'t be able to help him out of this situation. He could only rely on himself for this.

Lumen was somewhat at a loss once again as his strength just wasn\'t high enough to overwhelm the enemy warrior. His thinking convoluted with thoughts however not a single one was helpful in getting him out of this.

He was all out of ideas and almost about to give up when he remembered his talent.

[Perfect Mana Conduit]

He had almost completely forgotten about this talent before now as it seemed useless to him as he mainly focused on his physical skills and stats, but thankfully he had the brain to choose a class that had magical abilities too.

The system really had screwed him over with taking his advanced knowledge away as he wouldn\'t be in this situation if it had not.

If he remembered correctly, his talent description said he was a \'Perfect conduit for mana to pass through and faced no restrictions in the usage and power of mana\' or something similar to that.

His intuition told him this would bring him untold benefits as he decided to stop thinking and put his blind trust in his intuition.

And so he did just that, he stopped thinking entirely and just..... reacted.

The axe warrior saw Lumen\'s face go from agitated and even fearful to a complete calm and serene state.

He didn\'t take much notice to this as just changing his facial expressions couldn\'t save him from death in this situation.

However he was wrong.

Lumen removed his hand from his spear as he instead now placed it at his waist, his palm facing the warrior\'s abdomen.

The man seemed prideful and excited at the action as he thought his prey had finally given up, but he couldn\'t be more wrong.

Lumen had no thoughts at the moment but that wouldn\'t stop him from activating a skill he had yet to use.

[Mana Bolt]

Out of nowhere, a flash of mana and light conglomerated in Lumen\'s palm as it very quickly formed a ball containing this converged energy.

Before the warrior had time to react to this, the ball left Lumen\'s hand and at the speed of an arrow firing, hit the man right in his stomach.

Silence once again covered the camp as both sides were now in shock at what they had just witnessed.

\'Did that warrior just use magic!? How..... What?\'

The other attackers and even his own team mates couldn\'t believe it as Lumen had somehow used magic to severely injure the warrior who looked like he was sure to win.

The mana bolt hit the man square in his stomach, hitting an area where many of his vital organs sat and it launched him off of Lumen a couple of metres, only stopping when a tree took the brunt of his speed and even cracked a little at the impact.

Lumen was also shocked at such damage as he looked the most recent notification on his system that portrayed to him just how much damage he had dealt.

[3200 Damage dealt!]

This number shocked him quite a lot as his normal attacks with his spear only did a little over 200 and even if he hit a vital spot like he did with the leader earlier would it deal damage in the thousands but it still didn\'t reach the level of damage dealt from this one mana bolt.

He looked over at the man and he seemed to be on the brink of death as his breathing was ragged and a large crater with scorch marks everywhere could be seen in his chest where the spell had hit.

He didn\'t give the other five enemies a chance to save him and threw his spear at the man, ending his life there and then.

Not wanting to lose any of his momentum and adrenaline, he immediately darted in the direction where his team mates were fighting the other five enemies.
