Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!

Chapter 190 - The Legality

Chapter 190 - The Legality

The suspicions in his heart faded when he caught a glimpse of the naive and innocent look on his daughter\'s face.

He could not associate that face with someone who would order him around and this was what he chose to believe wholeheartedly.

\'Vonna is just excited about receiving her allowance.\' He abated his wary thoughts with this justification.

Having come to this conclusion, he glanced at his child who was staring at him with those big amethyst eyes blinking occasionally.

He now had to explain to his child that she had not done anything wrong and it was he who had a strange illusion that he had broken free from.

"No, Papa was thinking of something else." He gave her a vague reason and Yvonne did not ask for more.

Observing her acceptance, he decided that it was time that they went back to the previous conversation that they had been partaking in.

"Are you sure?" He interrogated as his eyes regained the stern glint after his momentary daze.

To which, Yvonne answered with a nod to indicate that she was sure of what she had intended.

"The Baron can sell the new recipe for the cost that he wishes but whatever he makes, he has to give 30% of the profit to our family." She announced what she had in mind for the Baron and his cafe.

Rutherford could make out that his child was speaking this after giving it some thought so he wished to know more about what she had planned thus far.

"Explain why 30%? Isn\'t that amount too high?" He was crude with his words as this was a business deal that would have his family\'s crest on it.

He prided in his family\'s name and would not wish for something wrong to occur because the child did not know what was right for her.

"What will you do if the Baron refuses to accept your conditions for the agreement?" He prodded further as this matter was related to his prestige as a noble and a businessman.

Yvonne had long discerned what her father had implied and this prompted her to disclose her purpose for asking that said amount.

\'How can that man disagree?\' She smirked and a devilish smile formed on her lips.

She had thought this through when she was still in the cafe and the chances of the man refusing to work with her were dwindling lower with each passing second.

Therefore, she did not hide the confidence she had in herself as she revealed another piece of information to her clueless father.

"The Royal Princess Felicia\'s birthday celebration is fast approaching." She remarked with the wicked smile still on her face.

Rutherford nodded his head as he had heard the news from his sources that King Ophire was planning something grand for his only daughter.

However, this father was truly clueless as to how these two matters had any connection to each other.

He blinked blankly as he waited for her to explain why this news was mentioned now when they were busy discussing the terms of the contract that he would have to make ready before the Baron arrives tomorrow.

Yvonne sighed when she saw the oblivious look on his face and decided to shed some more light on this aspect of the truth.

"The Princess has demanded the desserts from Baron MacIntyre\'s cafe to be served at her celebration." She divulged and her eyes brightened when she noticed the slight flash of understanding pass through his eyes.

She did not wait for him to speak but continued with her explanations.

"If the Royal Princess is pleased with his desserts then the noble ladies will soon follow, causing the cafe to gain immense popularity after this celebration." She concluded her speech and took a deep breath in.

Rutherford had been patiently listening to the ramblings of his child but nowhere did he hear the answer to the question that he had asked.

"How does the cafe gaining popularity ensure that the Baron will agree to sign the deal with you, Vonna?" He interrogated while rubbing the bridge of his nose, an action he did when he was stressed.

Yvonne froze when she heard his words which made her realize that she had not given him the answer to the most pressing question.

\'I seemed to have missed that part of the story.\' She commented while letting out an awkward chuckle.

"Miss Glennise Brodie is the answer to that question." She revealed and met the same clueless face of the Earl all over again.

\'Now why was the Duke\'s daughter mentioned?\' He was tired of hearing about people he had no relation to.

When Yvonne heard the sigh that he had let out, she made it a point to be quick with her replies to please the man who was her only source of support in this matter.

"Miss Glennise was the one who had introduced the desserts from Baron\'s cafe to the Princess which in turn made the Royal Princess demand for those treats to be served at the celebration that would take place in the future." She hurried to speak these words to rationalize her theory.

"Miss Glennise was also present and had tasted the new dessert today. She had high praises for it and even promised to try and influence the Princess to add it in the menu for the celebration." She paraphrased what Glennise Brodie had uttered before she left.

This made much more sense to Rutherford than the earlier statements that Yvonne had spoken.

"So Miss Glennise is your witness?" He inquired and obtained a gleeful smile along with a positive nod from the child.

There was a rule in this Kingdom, much like the trademarks and patents that were widely prevalent in her old world.

As long as there were at least two members of the noble society who would attest to be the witnesses for someone who claimed to have discovered something new and innovative, that person would have the right to do with it as they pleased.

The same would apply to the recipe that Yvonne had helped improve.

Rika Kiron and Glennise Brodie along with the rest of the people present at the cafe were her witnesses for the aid that she had given to the baker.

This meant that she had the right to do as she pleased with the recipe that she had invented.

Without her permission, no man could use her method and if they did use it, they could even be punished if this matter was brought before his Majesty, King Ophire.

Yvonne was sure that by now, Glennise Brodie must have conveyed the news of the brand new treat that ought to be at the birthday celebration of the Princess.

\'So one more person to be added to the list of my supporters.\' She chuckled when she thought of this.

If Baron MacIntyre were to try and imitate the recipe that she had given then there would be no issues in that.

However, if he were to sell that product under his name and try to make a profit, then the problem would arise with grave consequences.

After all, the commercial use without the permission of the inventor, who was Yvonne, was a crime punishable in the law of this Kingdom.

\'I\'m glad that I learned about this legality from Marquess Samed earlier on.\' She thanked her lucky stars for helping her out in this way.
