Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!

Chapter 284 - Indulging The Foolish Demands

Chapter 284 - Indulging The Foolish Demands

"Why, you ask!?" The servant glowered at Butler Limo without trying to hide his contempt.

The change in his demeanor was unprecedented as the two men stared at the sneering servant with surprise.

However, that surprise faded and they narrowed their eyes at his disrespectful behavior.

Even if Butler Limo was also a servant in the Mansion, he was the man with the highest authority after the Masters in the household.

Therefore, for a mere low-ranked servant to act this way towards him could not be tolerated.

Even the Earl had a grave look on his face after witnessing this untoward attitude.

"Speak clearly." He commanded without moving out of his seat.

The sneer on the servant\'s face faded as his eyes returned to the Earl, there was respect still visible in his eyes however there was something else hidden in them as well.

"Master, I was doing the right thing!" He defended his atrocious behavior with a self-righteous attitude.

This brought out another frown from the two men but they remained silent to let him speak his mind.

Given the chance to place his defense before them, the servant pounced on this opportunity without hesitation.

"A girl learning these skills!?" He scoffed at the very thought of such a thing taking place.

With this single haughty statement, Rutherford and Limo realized what his motives were.

Even if he were to remain silent after this single sentence, they would not have needed any further explanations as everything was clear to them now.

\'He wanted to disrupt Young Miss\' trials because she is a girl?\' Butler Limo stared at him in disbelief.

Rutherford had similar expressions of disgust coupled with rage at these words.

"My Vonna can do things that most boys cannot, so what is wrong with her learning these skills?" He retorted and the pride for his child was evident on his face.

The servant\'s eyes widened when he heard the Earl\'s support for the little girl.

"Master, you did not wish for her to learn these before. Why did you change your mind?" He cried out while gritting his teeth which caused his blood to ooze from the corner of his lips.

Rutherford froze when he heard this as it was true that he was against Yvonne learning these skills at the very beginning.

This reaction was evident to both Butler Limo and the servant when they saw the Earl sit still.

While the servant was rejoicing that there was someone who had understood his point of view, Butler Limo knew that the truth was otherwise.

It was true that the Earl was against his precious daughter ever learning those skills meant solely for boys.

However, things began to change over the course of the past month as he watched his child become more disciplined and energetic due to the practice she did with her trainer.

She no longer stayed cooped up in her room, she spoke more freely and the parents had noticed that she was even beginning to return to her earlier jovial self.

After her accident when she had lost her memories, she had become aloof and even distant to them which saddened the parents immensely.

But now they could make out that their relationship was returning to how it was before her loss of memories.

\'Mr. Toone was right when he advised us to give her time to adjust to her \'new\' environment.\' He praised the physician who had diagnosed her in their Summer Estate.

She was accepting them and a major part of the credit for this went to her being happy with what she was doing.

\'What is so wrong if my child wants to learn something that makes her happy?\' He wondered in bewilderment.

If he as the father was starting to adjust to the fact that she wanted to learn things that boys would usually learn then why was this servant so against it?

This question brought out anger in the doting father\'s heart.

"If Young Miss wants to learn then why are you so bothered about it?" Butler Limo\'s scowling words brought the Earl back from his thoughts.

With this, he remained silent to observe the interaction between the other men as there was a lot on his mind that he needed to ponder about.

The servant blinked at the Butler as though he was seeing the strangest man in the world.

"Young Miss is little and she doesn\'t know right from wrong!" He scoffed and winced when his cheeks pierced with the shards of glass hurt once again.

"It was fine as long as it was horse riding but did you have to get the great Captain to waste his time teaching her?" He shook his head as he thought against it.

His grievance was not only were they indulging the foolish demands of a little girl, they were squandering a busy man\'s precious time in the process as well.

"Did the Captain ask you to care for his time?" Rutherford butted in with a scowl.

\'Des agreed to come out of his own volition… Though I did threaten him with my favor at first, he later agreed without qualms.\' He recalled and was sure that his daughter was the cause of that change.

"But Master…" The servant tried to argue further but did not get a chance as he saw the Earl rising from his seat.

The Butler quickly stepped away to make way for the Master.

"To ensure that my child doesn\'t clear the first trial you tied that token on the high branch, wasn\'t it?" He inquired while staring right into the culprit\'s eyes.

The guilty man bowed his head and nodded in acceptance of the charge placed against his name.

This admittance of what he was already aware of made the Earl clench his jaw to curb his anger from raging on.

"Would you be able to take responsibility if she had injured herself?" He questioned again, making the culprit\'s eyes widen in fear.

"I did not know that she would fetch the token and clear that trial…" He confessed as there would be no use to hide his sins any longer.

He only wanted the girl to fail so that she would stop trying to do something that she was not destined to.

He had thought that the Young Miss would give up when she saw that the object needed to win was out of her reach, but the reality was different from his expectations.

\'She is a girl so she should behave like one.\' He sneered at the thought of the child who desired for more than what she could handle.

In his opinion, girls should stay indoors and only come out when they want to go admire the flowers in the garden or they wish to go shopping with friends.

Therefore, a girl who wants to learn swordsmanship and archery was an abomination in his eyes.

He was under the impression that his Master would be pleased with what he had done as they shared similar opinions but reality had proved to him otherwise.

Not only was his Master mad at him, but he had also punished him by locking him in the Lower Hall.

"She should have just given up…" He muttered, unhappy with the unexpected turn of events.
