A Husband For Killer Mom

Chapter 82

“Slide aside, and you will find out.”

Obediently, Anxia slid her index finger across the smartphone screen to reveal another image.

This time she saw a photo of the house with several people inside. It’s just that the people inside were sleeping in strange positions as if they had fainted after eating food infused with sleeping pills.

In the next image, she saw a locked door, then with a pounding heart, Anxia swiped once more to see the following image.

The moment she saw the latest image, her heart felt like it had stopped beating and like a knife was stabbing her heart.

She saw the figure of a woman with a ravaged face covered in bruises. Her clothes were torn and bloodied, and most of her skin was exposed, showing purplish-blue bruises.

The woman’s face was out of shape as there were swollen lumps all over her face. Her body was covered with blood, and even she couldn’t recognize her dress as it was full of red. But she knew and couldn’t have mistaken her dear friend’s frame.

That woman is Ling Meng!

.....

Anxia couldn’t stand to see her friend battered like that, and without realizing it, tears were welling up in the corners of her eyes again. In this world, the only people who could make her cry were the people Anxia cared about the most.

The first was Lori, and then the second was Ling Meng.

Richard became aware of the tears threatening to come out of the corners of his wife’s eyes. His hand moved to wipe away the tears that had managed to trickle down his wife’s cheek.

“That’s why I was trying to delay showing it to you. I know you will cry when you see this photo.” seeing her tears equal the death penalty for him.

The last breakdown was enough for Richard to make an oath not to make her cry. Yet, he failed just only to give what Anxia wanted the most.

“Now, what is the status?” as if she couldn’t hear her husband’s words, Anxia asked about her friend’s condition. “Where is she? Is she okay? I want to see her.”

“...”

“Richard, tell me.” Anxia grabbed her husband’s collar, demanding the man tell her immediately.

It was plunging that Anxia had seen photos of her friend’s poor state in the identical torture room. Anxia didn’t want to back down and wanted to listen to her friend’s condition until the end, whether it was good or bad.

“Please. Please, don’t tell me... is she dead?”

“No,” Richard almost answered it directly. “She’s not dead, but... her injuries are too severe and....”

“And...”

“She’s still unconscious.”

“How long?”

“Almost a week now.”

Ling Meng hasn’t regained consciousness yet? Why? Why isn’t her friend awake yet?

No. Anxia should be quite relieved to hear that her best friend was still alive. But still... she couldn’t calm down if she hadn’t met her only sister-like friend. She wanted to confirm with her own eyes that Ling Meng was indeed still alive.

“Where is she now? I want to see her.”

“I’m afraid I can’t fulfill your wish now.”

Anxia’s brow furrowed at this, and once again, Richard could feel hateful gazes directed at him.

“Xia Xia, believe me, I do want to take you there, but I want you to know. The person who helped me save your friend was not an ordinary guy. He doesn’t want his identity or where he lives to be found out, so he won’t let foreigners enter his territory.”

“Who is it? I can’t believe I can’t find the location.” she believed no one could hide from her once she got her target’s information.

Richard took a deep breath at his wife’s stubbornness. “Have you ever heard about a mysterious group that’s always working in the shadows helping injustice victims?”

“What?”

“They are very crafty in that they manage to escape UK Interpol investigations and local detectives every time they act.”

“How brave. What is the connection between this and that? I only want to see Ling Meng.”

Richard heaved a surrendering sigh yet didn’t enlighten her.

“Don’t tell me; this group was the one? Who are they?”

“I don’t know. But everyone calls its leader a Guardian Angel.”

The name rang a bell in her head. “Cerberus?”

Richard raised an eyebrow with great interest, not expecting his wife to know the name ‘Cerberus.’

“You know him?”

“No. But Meng Meng always mentioned him.”

“Your friend? How did she know him?”

Of course, Ling Meng knew the name Cerberus. Ling Meng was a hacker and often heard rumors about Cerberus traveling from one to another around the world.

Ling Meng admired Cerberus... worshipped his hacking technique, which was significantly different from other hackers.

The way that person hacked into other people’s cyber programs was so subtle and untraceable that he earned another nickname. Most other hackers would call Cerberus a ‘phantom’ because his existence had never been known and detected by anyone.

In her own way, Ling Meng managed to find out that Cerberus, the guardian angel, was not working alone. And since that, Ling Meng has been looking for ways to join the team led by Cerberus.

Cerberus had a team whose existence also deserved the title ‘ghost.’ No one knew how many members this team had or the background of the Cereberus members, but Ling Meng, all members were extraordinary individuals.

Anxia could have guessed that her friend would jump for joy when she woke up and heard that a member of the Cerberus team had saved her.

‘Awesome! I could die happily now even if I had to get those unbearable tortures!’

Anxia seemed to be able to hear Ling Meng’s voice in her head. She was sure that Ling Meng would say these words when she awoke.

As if a heavy weight had been lifted from her shoulders, Anxia’s knees went limp, and she almost fell to the floor if it weren’t for two strong arms supporting her.

“Xia Xia, are you okay?”

Instead of answering, Anxia glanced angrily at Richard.

“Why didn’t you say that Cerberus helped Meng Meng earlier?”

“What?”

“If only you had told me earlier, I won’t be depressed like this. I might not try to kill you!”

“How would I know you know Cerberus? If I had known, I would have told you from the start. Wait a minute... just now, you were angry at me even after seeing your friend’s condition, but now you feel relieved when you hear that Cerberus saved your friend? Why do I get the feeling you have more faith in Cerberus than you do in me? Have you ever met them?”

“Not yet. But I can at least believe in Cerberus more than you.”

Boom!!

Like thunder rumbling in the sky, that was the impression in Richard’s brain.

Richard didn’t know whether he should laugh or cry.

Who would have thought that his wife could unconditionally give her faith in Cerberus when in fact... the leader of Cerberus was Richard himself.

If Cerberus weren’t himself, maybe he would have locked himself in, knowing he had a very tough rival like Cerberus.

Richard didn’t expect that the name Cerberus would be so well-known that it would reach Ling Meng and Anxia, ??even though he had made sure to act secretly. He even convinced the victims he had helped not to tell the whereabouts of the Cerberus team.

He was sure that no one would know that Cerberus and his team were domiciled in the country.

But how could Ling Meng and Anxia know about it? Why did his wife give the impression that she already knew Cerberus to the point of entrusting her friend’s safety to someone she had never met?

“Alright, it’s up to you, then.” Richard suddenly let go of his hands that supported Anxia’s body, whose legs were still weak.

Anxia wasn’t prepared to lose her comfortable position when Richard’s arms let her waist go. So Anxia fell with her buttocks kissing the floor hard, making Anxia wince in pain.

With anger, almost killing intent, Anxia glared resentfully at Richard.

“What are you doing!?”

“You said you didn’t want to rely on me at all. So you don’t need my help to help you up again, right? You’re not a child. You can help yourself, can’t you?” After saying his last sentence, Richard turned around and walked towards the end of the balcony, leaving the now mouth-opened Anxia in disbelief.

Did she hear correctly?

It was Richard himself who wanted to make her depend on him, but he changed his mind the next second after Anxia refused him?!

Why did she feel like she was a king who had to endure the jealousy of one of his concubines?

Yeah. Anxia no longer knew who was the husband and who was the wife.
