Love So Sweet

Chapter 48

Wei Jun Hao heard his wife’s request and found that it was a little strange. “Why are you interested in the Bai family?”

“It’s Li Xue,” Zhang Yu Ying spoke. “You remember that little boy, Bai Qi right?”

How can Wei Jun Hao not remember that little boy? He had seen him a few times with his niece before. However, the little girl’s parents were unaware that their daughter was close to this boy.

“Un. Are you trying to play a matchmaker again?”

“I heard that the family is planning to move oversea,” Zhang Yu Ying said. “I need to know if they had left the country. I want to let Li Xue at least say goodbye to her friend.”

Wei Jun Hao heaved a sigh. “You just need to know if they had left the country, right?”

.....

“Uh-huh.”

“Give me five minutes. I’ll ask around.”

Zhang Yu Ying hung up the phone and saw that her niece was staring back with hopeful eyes. “We have to wait for your uncle to ask around, alright.”

“Oh.” Zhang Li Xue nodded. “Younger Aunt, will you take me to see Bai Qi if he still hasn’t left.”

“Un. But we cannot stay for a long time, alright? Otherwise, your parents might worry.”

“Aunt, I know. I will only say a few words to Brother Bai Qi.” It would be fine if she could only see him briefly.

In less than five minutes, Zhang Yu Ying’s phone rang. She saw her husband’s name and quickly pick up the phone call. “How is it?”

“Bai Qi’s father got a huge project offer in Country S. Their flight will leave in two days,” Wei Jun Hao spoke. “I will text you their address.”

“Hubby, thank you!”

Wei Jun Hao chuckled. Hearing the way his wife called him made his heart turn sweet. “I’ll expect my reward from you once I get back from work.”

The man’s tone was a little ambiguous and it made Zhang Li Xue’s face turn red. “You are helping your niece. I’ll tell Li Xue to reward you later.”

Before her husband could spout more nonsense, Zhang Yu Ying had hung up the phone. She turned around and saw that the little girl was still looking at her. Zhang Yu Ying cleared her throat and composed herself. “Your uncle said Bai Qi hasn’t left the country yet.”

Zhang Li Xue’s eyes lit up. Knowing that she might have the chance to see her teammate one last time put her in a good mood.

Just then, Zhang Yu Ying’s phone rang again. She tapped her finger on the screen and saw that her husband had sent her the Bai’s family address.

Zhang Yu Ying turned to her niece and smiled. “I have his address. Li Xue, let’s go and see your friend.”

...

After driving for fifteen minutes, the aunt and niece finally arrived at Bai Qi’s house.

Recently, there were a lot of people visiting the Bai family as they were planning to move overseas in a few days. Seeing that they were heading to the Bai’s residence, the guard did not ask too many questions and called the house to let them know about the guest.

Coincidentally, the person who picked up the phone call was Old Madam Bai. Bai Qi’s parents were not at home as they were busy handling some paperwork before the move.

Old Madam Bai heard that it was someone from the Zhang family and asked the guard to let them in.

A few minutes later, Zhang Yu Ying and her niece stood in the living room, facing the old woman.

Old Madam Bai saw Zhang Yu Ying and was puzzled to see her visiting. Then, she noticed the little girl and could not hide her surprise. Her grandson often told her about this little girl and their basketball practice. Of course, Old Madam Bai could still remember her well. The last time she met this little girl was at her little brother’s full moon celebration.

“Hello, Old Madam Bai,” Zhang Yu Ying spoke politely. “I’m sorry that this visit might seem too sudden.”

“It’s fine.” Old Madam Bai waved her hand. “Have a seat. How is your grandfather?”

Zhang Yu Ying took her niece to sit down and answered, “My grandfather is well.” After exchanging a few polite words, Zhang Yu Ying quickly got to the point. “Actually, I came over this time for my niece.” She glanced at her niece who was looking back at her impatiently. “We heard that your family is planning to move overseas. My niece, Li Xue is a good friend of your grandson. She hoped to meet him again before he leave.”

Old Madam Bai was surprised to hear this request.

It was only then that she remember how her grandson has been in a bad mood after he heard his parents plan to move overseas.

The plan was a bit too sudden and everyone in the house was busy with this move. They knew that Bai Qi was throwing tantrum and did not have time to coax him. Bai Qi was still small. Even though he was unhappy, there was nothing else he could do about it. It was not possible to leave him in this country alone when everyone else was going.

Old Madam Bai looked at the little girl again. She remembered how her grandson often told her about this little girl. Actually, Bai Qi was no longer that mischievous after he befriended this girl.

The thought that the two friends would not be able to see each other again made her heart ache. The adults were too busy with their matters that they had neglected the little boy. As his grandmother, Old Madam Bai felt bad about it.

“Fortunately, Bai Qi is in his room,” Old Madam Bai spoke. “Hold on. I’ll get someone to call him.”

Old Madam Bai called the auntie and told her to call Bai Qi to the living room.

Five minutes later, the boy walked down the stairs with a solemn expression. He was not in the mood to meet anyone, especially now that they were counting the days before his family was moving to another country.

However, the moment Bai Qi saw the little fairy sitting in his living room, Bai Qi was stunned. He could not help but wonder if his eyes were playing tricks on him.
